What is Timber?

The name timber is given to the wooden material cut from logs of certain sizes, which are used in construction, industry and many other areas, whose raw material is wood. Timber is the name given to trees that are cut and sawn for use in carpentry and construction sectors and then made ready for processing and kept waiting. The raw material of timber is trees and the production stage is forests. For this reason, the place and importance of forests in people's lives is very great. Which Tree is Timber Made From?

Timber is divided into two types according to its properties. These are,

Hard Timber: Hard timbers are mostly formed from trees found in temperate climate regions. For example, birch, linden, elm, oak, walnut, maple and ash can be shown as examples of hard timbers. Hard timbers are also obtained from trees grown in tropical regions. The areas where these trees are generally used are interior decorations and musical instruments. Thanks to these timbers used for fine workmanship, very beautiful works are created. One of the regions where timber is used is the joinery and furniture sector. The reason for this is that this tree is less splintered than other trees. In this way, it is much easier to shape and bend and twist the timber.

Soft Timber: Soft timbers are generally obtained from coniferous trees. The common feature of these trees is that their leaves do not fall in summer and winter. Since their trunks are not curved, these trees grow straight up. These timbers are lighter but stronger than hard timbers. The main reason why these timbers are strong is that they are splintered. Due to this feature, it is also harder to bend and twist. These types of trees are defined as construction timber in particular. These products are generally used as building materials.

Timber is used in many different areas in our country. People have used the tree in many different ways. For example, many people build houses from trees on trees. Because wood is a very ideal option preferred for building houses at every stage. Wood is not processed only for people's comfort. It has also become a need for protection from wild animals.
